Frequently asked questions

how do I join New Heights?

The first entry point to New Heights is through our Foundation program. This is a weekend developmental league that combines on-court skill development, competitive basketball and classroom SEL (Social Emotional Learning) opportunities. For more information and registration dates, please visit https://www.newheightsnyc.org/thefoundation.

How do I join a competitive New Heights team?

If a student-athlete is selected to be on a New Heights team, they are enrolled in our College Bound program (you can read more about College Bound and what the program entails here).

College Bound is comprised of National and Regional teams. There are several possible entry points to our College Bound boys and girls teams:

  1. New Heights hosts elementary and middle school tryouts in the fall and high school tryouts in the spring. You can follow our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram) for all information related to tryouts.

  2. Referrals from coaches, schools and other partners in the New York City basketball landscape.

  3. We also use The Foundation as a feeder system to our College Bound program.

  4. Our staff and coaches identify promising student-athletes and recruit them to the program.

For all inquiries regarding joining one of our girls basketball teams, please reach out directly to our Girls Basketball Director Kathleen Weber at kweber@newheightsnyc.org. Our boys teams are currently not accepting email referrals.

What other programs and/or clinics do you have available?

We host a variety of camps and clinics throughout the year. All programming opportunities (both current and upcoming) will be posted on our website and social media pages.
